Default antenna and mounting question

I just got a cb for Christmas, but did not get the antenna or mount.

Which is better the Firestik Firefly or the firestik ll ?

I believe both of them will work with the weather function on my Cobra 25.

Second, I think I may do the cooltech mount and want to know which would be better the gate mount or the ultramount?

My girlfriend got my the Firestik II FS for christmas and it's got the tip on the top that your turn with your fingers to tune it so it's really easy to tune once you use somebody's SWR meter. My 3' firestik i mounted on the back on the tire carrier, the cooltec mounts were way to expensive for me, but uckily her dad is big into restoring cars and building cars so we fabbed one up in about an hour it was cut, welded, ground down, cleaned, primed and painted i'll post up some pictures after i take a few shots of it. i have to re route my cable after i get a longer cable, it's going to go through the gate and come out of the rubber gromet on the gate for a nice clean look.

I have the gatemount and think its great. Its a quality product. The ultramount is nice also but if you wheel your rig there is a greater chance of it getting ripped off. Thats happened to a few guys here. I say if you wheel alot go with the gatemount and the ultra if you dont.

Just checked out the gatemount. Is that enough metal to mount grounding?

Get the Firefly. The Firestiks are about 5/8" diameter and aren't flexible at all.

The Firefly are much smaller and much more flexible.

I am one of those guys, managed to bang up and dent my rear quarter pretty badly in the process.

I would say go for the gate mount. No real difference in performance, and the antenna will be tucked out of the way.

I have the Firestick II, it has the "adjustable" tip, makes it real easy to tune.
I mounted it on a Teraflex mount on the tire carrier, works good...

K40 mounted to tailgate using bolt in OEM tire carrier and a cheapo bracket from Radio Shack. Bracket is basically a piece of metal bent 90 degrees with a hole in each end. I placed the bolt through one and the antenna through the other
