Thanks. I think I will be adding the Versamount in a few weeks but I am still trying to decide. The local club requires a CB radio and my wife wanted it to look as stock as possible. The JK is less than one month old so I had to be creative.

That looks really sharp! Thanks for the pics. I'm already starting to lean away from the 75

If you can afford a single DIN head unit then you can do the same install with a Cobra 18 as well. It is a tight fit but not any more than the double DIN radios that people are installing as well.

Yes, you will have to replace the stock radio with a single DIN unit. I do not have a write up since it is the same process as any double DIN installation. I purchased my head unit through an online retailer (begins with a C and ends with field). You will have to call them directly since if you purchase a single DIN head unit the website will provide the single DIN dash trim. If you call them they will add the double DIN trim for free.

Do you have any specific questions?

My CB is a Cobra 18WX ST II which is just at a single DIN in size. I installed a Pioneer DEH-P6000UB head unit. I just followed the Double DIN write up's that exist on this site. The only thing that is different is to make sure you get the double DIN trim kit (not the single DIN) and that you do not use the front mount method of installing the head unit (the chassis the clips into the dash). I found that I needed to use the rear-mount method and use the screws to install the head unit into the trim piece.

Next weekend I need to do some other work on my Jeep so I will take a few more pictures and do a write up.

I'm glad someone has done this and it worked out ok - I have plans to do this very thing, except not with a CB - but rather a scanner.

Did you have to trim the double din bracket to accept to single DIN units or was it pretty much plug and play?

edit: nevermind, see your comments above about rear mounting. Very cool

That looks great. I am really suprised that nobody has made a double din unit that is both a cb and regular radio/cd player all in one unit, I bet they would make a killing selling those. Maybe there is more to it that I am not aware of. I would do this but I actually like my factory radio, so I will probably go with the cobra 75.

Ordered a full CB kit (mount, antenna, Cobra 75 WX CB, Versamount) today and I don't even have my jeep yet!
