Default Ham Install

Well I don't have pics but I will get them. I have a Yeasu 2M/440 with a seperatable control head. I mounted the main radio to the bracket holding the factory amp behind the dash. I then routed the seperation cable up above the rear view mirror where the face plate is mounted. I ran a external speaker into the padding and the speaker is tucked behind the padding of the roll bar. I will have to get you some pictures in the daylight. The only thing you see is the head unit. Which is removable and the only thing it leaves is a mount. Other than that and the mic it is all hidden and out of sight. Chris

I'm about 99% sure this is the route I'm going to take. Nice out of the way housing, and there is the security aspect of it. Plus I think it looks pretty good.

Someone posted a pic in another thread where they mounted an external speaker on the rear portion of the overhead console. If this is the route I end up taking, I will definitely do that as well.

thanks guys for the suggestions. i also saw the cross bar from arizona rocky roads website and it was a nice setup as well. I also looked at some antenna mounts and i think the way to go is the mount that adapts to the spare tire. I guess i will need two mounts because i cant use one antenna for both CB and Ham.

Here's my Icom 706mkIIg with LDG automatic antenna tuner. I have the separation cable such that the radio is mounted under the passenger seat and the control head is on a GPS window mount. For antennas, I have a 102" whip for HF and a mini dual-bander for VHF and UHF. It's a nice little DC to daylight rig that let's me listen in on aircraft, marine, CB, shortwave and more (as well as all the popular ham bands.

Ranger 2970DX for 10m use, the wiring is only a temp thing...I'll have them tucked away and hidden if and when I get over this bout of laziness....

102" whip on the tire carrier of the Fab Fours.....My SWR's are a train wreck at the moment, trying to get that sorted out....

Ham Ops aren't known to be the most aesthetically inclined guys with ham rigs and antennas, ya know!
