Have you been able to hear anything? Tune to 17 and 19 and see if you can copy anyone. Ask for a radio check and see if your transmit is working too.

My buddy and I did almost 400kms today of road. Cb worked great got over 5km between us and could still hear each other good. Good enough for what I need. Only odd noise is when I run my hid hellas. Just squelch it out a bit.

Sounds all good!

Plenty of electronic items cause RF interference. I wouldn't worry about it too much unless it inhibits communication.

It probably will at the extents of distance between us. But I don't see a problem in closer ranges like on or two km.

I'm going to try a 4ft whip as well to see the difference in distance available for communication.

There might be a little change in the distance.
Just remember after you change the whip, to recheck the SWR with the new antenna.

yes, for sure. Its working really good. From reading on here I was expecting really crappy performance. But it worked fine. 110% pleased. And for a full antenna setup for 40 bucks including coax, that's a killer deal.

It's all about expectations. A mediocre antenna may be perfect for your needs as long as you have reasonable expectations.

For VHF duties in my Jeep, I run just an "ok" antenna, understanding that I'll likely never try to work simplex and than the reduced size is more important than maximum antenna gain.

VHF duties is a different ball of wax!

For CB, I don't think it matters as much!
