Default CB Setup, Do I have all my parts?

I'm putting together my CB setup for my JK and think I have all the parts I'll need. I originally had intented to use my trusty Cobra 18 WX ST II but it's just so dang big I can't really find anywhere to put it. I don't want to put it on top of the center dash as it'll block my GPS antenna for the MyGIG. So I've ordered myself a Cobra 75 WX ST as that seems to be THE CB of choice these days. I like it's dual monitoring feature so I can listen to chanel 19 while talking on my local club channel, channel 4.

Here's my parts list:

Cobra 75 WX ST
U-QD1 Qucik Disconnect
Firestick GL3 3' Antenna
18' CB Antenna Cable
Bracketron JEE-203-07 CB Mic Bracket Mount

I'm trying to decide if I want to mount the CB on my tire carrier (Expedition One) or on a TeraFlex mount. Right now I'm leaning towards the tire carrier. My garage is pretty short and I'm barely going to fit my 2.5" lifted JK on 35's in there, hence the disconnect.

What do you guys think? Is 3' long enough? Should I use the Cool Tech mount and put it on my plates bracket and leave the antenna on all the time? Or should I go ahead with my plan to bolt it to the tire carrier?

Well, the soft top is taller than the hard top but I appreciate what you mean.

Do you have to cut the plate holder for the Cool Tech mount or do they send you a new housing bracket? I'm still thinking I'd like something "in line" with the vehicle to prevent it getting caught up in the trees on the trails here in St. Louis.

The Cooltech door mount looks basically like a bent piece of aluminum. But it does come with all the nessicary wiring and won't likely interfere with my new tire carrier. It's pretty much the same price as ordering those parts seperatly from a diffrent vendor. But you said your 3' antenna mounted to the plate mount was as tall as your roof? That means the tail gate one would stick out above the roof line.

Looks good guy. You may want to run another ground strap from the gate to the tub. Make a continuity check from your mount all the way to somewhere on the frame.

I'll have pictures for you within a couple days. Bumpers here in St. Louis. Should be delivered tomorrow. I plan to put it on Thursday. I'm probably just going to go w/ the 2ft antenna over a 4ft job to keep it simple.

Let me know how your install turns out. I really want to do the same thing. Anxious to see how well yours works. What are you going to do about SWR meter and antenna tuning?

Buddy of mine here at the shops a big HAM guy. Has a couple SWR meteres. Figure we'd tune it here in the parking lot one day after work and get it sorted. Right now I'm waiting on Expedition One to send me the CB antenna bracket so I can see where it mounts and how tall a whip I can run. If it's like thier Gen1carrier I'll be lucky if I can fit a 2' antenna on there without wacking my garage every time I pull in. If that's the case, I'll be calling Cool Tech for thier tale gate mount kit.
