CB speaker thru the Aux port.
Do any of you see any problem with plugging into the Aux on the oem radio for a cb speaker while on the trail. I know it will shut off the music but do you see any harm. I have a Cobra 75 inside the dash and was hoping not to add an extra speaker to hear the cb.
but I have a cheapo hand mike too so maybe thathas something to do with it.
I have the cobra 75 as well, and I've been doing that for almost 2 years, no problems. If you want to hear it out of both sides you will need to get a mono-to-stereo cord to use tho. If you search on here you will find the thread from 2007 where it was discussed exactly which cord to use. Sorry I can't remember which one it is off hand. With a standard mp3 cable you will only get sound out of the left side. =)

I have a Cobra 19 and I made a switch box so I can run both the CB and my iPod nano, switching between them when I need to. You really do have to watch the CB volume! I didn't need a special cord, I just ran a stereo male/male cord and it worked just fine.
After a while, I found that I rarely actually use the CB, so I stuck a small, unpowered RadioShack external up on the dash. I perched it on the driver's side tweeter and the tension from the cord keeps it in place. Turns out that the output from the CB is plenty loud through that speaker.

I like this idea better, it puts the external speaker near your head and doesn't cause any clutter.
