Default Cobra 75 Help Please!!!

So, I installed my Cobra 75 and now it powers up normally and other times it will power up and have a blank screen. I have it tuned to the weather channel to make sure I'm receiving. Just find it odd to be such a finicky piece of gear. Any suggestions? The main module is to the left of my glove box. Thanks for the help!

Sounds like you have a bad radio. Get in touch with Cobra or return to vendor you purchased from.

Man I hope not. I bought it about a year ago from Dave at Northridge 4X4. I installed it when I got it, tested it a bit, but never really had it up and running much. I'll trouble shoot a bit more before calling Dave.

If I remember correctly (my buddy helped me with the wiring) we tapped into a hot line (not sure which one). My buddy is much better at wiring than I am. I tried with the radio on and off. Sometimes it powers up just fine and others it's just a green lit screen with no icons.

I appreciate the help guys! This is driving me batty.

Check your wiring. I run from the battery and I have not had any issues with my 75. It may just be a week ground. But if you dont have any icons or text it can easily be your unit. I would call Cobra, they helped me with another cb i had.

Also make sure its fused, if something happened it could have shorted and fried the unit.

Will do. I'll be checking it tonight. It's really odd. Sometimes it fires right up and others it just powers up but no noise or icons. I'll post an update later.

Ok, dug into the wiring tonight. Since a photo is a thousand words, here's a few to explain what I'm working with.

This is the module that I tied into. Not sure what it is, but my friend said it was a good option.

This is the CB module. Best place I could find for it. Any concerns with the heat?

Another photo of the module.

So, it powers up intermittently. It does have an inline fuse to help protect it. The ground ties into the module, not the body.

What's the word gents? Does it sound like a bad module? I receive the weather channel with some static, but no traffic at all on any of the channels. I let it cycle through scan for a few minutes and thought I would pick up some traffic, but nothing at all. Thanks again for all the help.

Cheers!
