Default High and tight over the mirror CB mount for cobras

Hi All, I've put alot of thought into it and I built an aluminum plate mount that goes through the trim pannel over the rear view mirror and secures to the stout windshield frame. If it works out, it should be awesome and pretty easy to install. Once the plate is in you can mount just about anything to it even scanners and definetly the larger Cobra CBs. The plate will allow the CB to mount as high and close to the windshield as you like and still give access to the hardtop catch. I think I can also velcro a little holster on top for my Smith and Wesson for hidden, quick access. Reply and let me know if you all would like a write up and I'll post some pics. -J

You can still find them at a decent price, but it is getting harder. The 2 sites I listed are $140 with a bench tune from Sparky's, and $130 untouched from CB World (wearecb.com). I ordered one from Sparky's on wed. and it should be on my doorstep by tues.
I know I did a search on ebay too, and only one I found was for $225+ but that was with some extra bells and whistles but still not worth it.

Besides a cross bar solution, what else is there? I've seen mounts against the outside of the center console, but that won't work for the 2011.
Here's where I mounted mine. Just need a steady hand and a lot of patience...

Got my 29 LX LE installed today....... I used a 1.5 x 1/4 x 5" peice of aluminum and bolted it to the window frame right below the right side of the hard top latch bracket. Then trimmed the moulding a little bit ...It turned out really clean.. I'll take pictures tomorrow ni the sunlight..
