Default Finding good ground point...

Just installed my Gatemount from cooltech

It went well except of course the grounding strap they give you is half as long as I need in my 2012 2 door

But where is the best existing ground?

They say to use the subwoofer bolt but I don't have a factory sub

Can someone help me out and give me some directions as to where I might find that sub hole?

I'm tempted to use the rear seat belt bolt if I can't find anything closer...

Anything that is unpainted matal will do the job.

Just remove rear carpet and find a place, else get it under the car, and bolt somewhere on the frame.

Dont have my Jeep near to go and have a look, but once it's back from sick leave, i can have a look and picture it.

If you tell me where I put my keys I'll tell you where to get a ground.

Actually I found a bolt with a nut fairly easily under the plastic piece in the back passenger corner.

They are still in the keyhole @ the front door?

I was tempted to use the large nut/bolt from the rear right side seat belt, we that be a good ground or is the coating on the bolt going to isolate it?

Any location you choose should be dressed first.

It needs to be metal on metal contact, no paint or any coating. I don't have a sub either and I suspect the bolt with a nut but not an acorn in the floor back left is where it would be. The ground cable reached it fine.

Oh, the keys were on the desk where they should be, just under some junk mail.

I installed the gate mount kit and the ground wire wasn't long enough to make it off of the tailgate...

So I am using the tie down attachment point, I pulled back carpet/plastic and sanded away a good size circle and I terminated the ground wire with a soldered on crimp ring (not sure if that is the name of it but it came with the gate mount kit
