I sent him an email asking if my DX-959 would fit, and specifically stated that my JK was a 2013 and that the hard tops have changed a lot through the years. This was his response:

"Chris, yes the 959 will fit. Thanks for checking with me"

Between GoBig's pictures and my request I am pretty confident that a full sized radio will fit. ShawnInPaso, maybe your mount was out of spec? I think I'm going to go for it, first for my 959 and then for a 94XP when I get around to ordering one.

Okay...I have a 2012 JKU. I didn't have to make any modifications to mine to make it fit and it fit perfectly under my soft top. However, with that said, I never tried it with my hard top. I ordered mine on ebay.

FYI, ordered the mount today. I'm gonna put it up using my DX-959 at first.

I will put the mount up using my 2013 3 piece hard top. Temporary at first, probably using double sided velcro tape and/or zip ties instead of drilling. I'll take some measurements and pictures and see what he might have meant about having to fab a special one. Everything seemed pretty straight forward, maybe it was for clearance with the middle freedom panel lever due to the dimensions of the 94?

Maybe...But after looking close as GoBigs pics, I have the heat sink on the rear of the radio right on the side of the power cord, he does not. That may be the issue. I should have taken pics of mine before I came offshore today and posted them on here....didn't think of that till just now.

I'm sure one way or the other you can make it work; it just may take a bit more than advertised. On the good side, once installed the thing is super strong and solid.

Hey man, been on night shift the past few weeks, and the rain up here hasn't helped. I should have a mock up done this weekend with zipties, etc and will try to get the pics up here ASAP. Final install date TBD.
