Ground question for first cb install
I made my own bracket for mounting my Firestik on my first cb install. The frame of the RR XHD bumper and the bracket were ground down to bare metal where they contact each other, will this be enough to provide a good ground? The tire carrier where the bracket mounts then connects to the bumper and then the frame with no plastic in between them so I would think the metal on metal to the frame would be enough? I don't know what the swr readings are yet, I'm still waiting on the cb to get here, I was just bored last weekend and started running the cable and putting on the bracket. Ignore the tape on the end of the connection, it's supposed to rain and I haven't found a good cap that fits yet.

You should be fine, actually the antenna is also grounded to the CB which is grounded to the vehicle. The good part is you have the antenna wire run,for me that was always the worst part.
Yes, he should be fine. But not all CBs will be grounded just by where they are mounted. And if you are talking about the ground to the battery, that is a DC electrical ground which is all together different than an RF ground.
I ordered a Cobra 75 with the remote connection and I was thinking that if I bolted that down to something decent it would help any grounding issues I might have with the antenna, but now that you say that, would that also be a DC type ground?
The radio housing should be grounded if you can but it's really not that important. the REALLY important on is that your ANTENNA MOUNT has a good ground to the body. That is a MUST.

If you are using the stock bolts i'd take the little plastic washer off but yea that SHOULD be ok. you might have some grounding issues due to the swing arm action of the gate, Hence why I grounded my gate to the tub with a separate wire.
DC ground is the ground wire you actually use to complete the circuit so you can power up the radio. Meaning the black (usually)/negative ground wire actually on the radio.
