Kenwood D710. Set up APRS with my GPS and am hoping that I can be tracked out in the desert so they know where to find my body.

I actually got my "Basic - Plus" license in the mail today. The allows me to use VHF/UHF, as well as running HF with a maximum of 250 watts.

VE6 LBV

I'm running a Yaesu FT8800R in my JK - no "shack" to speak of. Yet

HI,
I'm new to the JK group. I am also a ham K2CRS. I am a member of Disaster Communication Systems (the Emergency Operations Center) in Los Angeles as well as a member of MARS (Metropolitian Amatuer Repeater System) which is a network of CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) Coodinators.
(That's only 3 acronyms.....I've had to memorize dozens )

N4YZS...been in since around '89, but inactive for the past several years. It's amazing how much time jobs kids and other toys can take up! Maybe this will help get me going again!!

73's for now

Hi you guys. Well, that's the first time I've ever heard anything called MARS other than Military Amateur Radio Service. See...still learning somethin' new....lol.

And N4YZS, at least you kept your license current....(just looked you up) Hope you get interested again. But, unfortunately you haven't missed much here lately. Cycle 24 has been a dud so far. It went from supposedly being the potential BEST cycle in history, to it might end up being the worst. I got on 17m a little earlier today and only heard one JA. So like I said, the bands haven't been real good. Well.....I should probably clarify......they haven't been that good for us up here in AK. which as you might know, being this far from the equator, is not a real good place for Hamming.....
73 & Good Luck getting going again...!!!
