Great idea to start a thread for us HAM's!! I think there really are alot of us out there! Thanks!!

I now have a Midland CB radio (for some goofy reason the HAM interfered with the Cobra..nasty feedback/squeel, but the Midland works great next to the Yeasu) Yeasu FT-7800R 2M/70M mobile, and Icom 2M HT my XYL used in her TJ, that she hooks up to her 2/70 mobile antenna.

I got a shelf bracket and 2 "L" brackets at the hardware store and mounted the brackets to my
rollbars on each side, then mounted the radios to the shelf bracket. I did NOT want to drill holes
in the dash of my NEW JK!! lol

Very Nice Tim....Great idea....

Hi Rick.....and welcome. FB on the TS-520. I had one in my shack for a few months. A great rig and it was really fun to play with. Now I have a TS-950 SDX that I love. I run 20m quite often. I was running 40 a lot also until the tree went down that was holding up one leg of my full WL 160m loop. I miss it, but will get something up as soon as the weather gets a little nicer.

Let me know if you want to sked on 20.

PS....I used to run a homebrew G5RV for a few years myself. One of my best contacts with it was during the wee hours on 40m, where I had a tuff qso with a guy in Paupa New Ginnea.

KI6VEO - Upgraded to General yesterday.

Pulled the Icom 208h out of the Jeep and installed a Kenwood TM-D700A got APRS half way configured. Just gotta find a GPS that works, mine didn't. Have not tried Cross Band Repeat yet, but that was the other motivator.

Looking forward to my first HF contact (Icom 7000, said i wouldn't buy a base station, yea right), one of these days.

Busy HAM weekend. Got in the way of the Jeep upgrades. Will get back to that once I'm done playing radio geek.

You are going to have so much fun with your now extended band/power privliges. Good luck with the IC7K.....an excellent rig. It's just the beginning my friend. Before you know it you'll have a tower with a monster yagi at the top.

Hey, I'll be visiting Austin in about a month. Got any repeater frequencies that I can use while there?

Check out austinhams.org/repeaters.htm. As far as 2m & 70 cm, the most popular are 146.94 & 444.100. What's your callsign? Let me know when you're heading up and I'll keep an ear out for you.
