I am not familar with the coax you are using but I would stay with a good RG-8.

good luck... It'll be interesting to see what turns up.

wow I feel Like a tool. I thought me Noise Blanker was on. it wasn;t.......Set to 75 you can barely hear anything.

I'd still like to try to find the cause if I can fix it.

Excellent. Do you have a CB? If so, does it pickup the ignition noise?

Yes, you should still try and fix it, as wide open NB tends to distort strong signals.

As JK-jeepit said about the coax....I have to agree as well. I've never heard of your coax either. That said, it could be a cheap off brand. Coax shielding plays a HUGE part. The cheaper brands don't have much of it and that can let stray RF in. You need an almost solid shield around your center conductor. Did you do any soldering yourself......do you remember seeing what the shield looks like?

Also definitely look at the K0BG website. It is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to mobile installations.

Also check out this link here: https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/show...-Radio-install

Edit..... I just found a site that showed Jetstream coax. The stuff they showed looked good. But they didn't show the JT-C5.

yea the jetstream stuff is good. We swapped in diffrent coax today witht the same result so I'm gonna try a diffrent mounting soliution. Going to mock up a bracket to attach directly to the frame to mount the antennas on out from under the bumper on the R side of the jeep.

I'm trying to remember if I ran the jeep next to my truck and looked for the ignition noise while using the trucks radio. I know I've tried tons of combinations w/o luck. Mobile HAM is an interesting animal. I've followed cars down the road that have splattered any audible signal with nasty noise. I think my Jeep just happens to be noisy (RFI). I've had zero issues with my NB at 100. But, mobile is already a severe compromise so if you can clean up the signal all the better.

This is very interesting. I'd be curious to know what you find. I run my antennas as mag-mount to the front bumper (after market) with one coax running under the hood across the radiator and out, the other under the hood and out. No ignition noise on CB or 10/6/2/.7 meters. I am using good coax. FWIW.

Will do.

http://www.worldwidedx.com/home-brew...on-filter.html built this filter and installed it last night because.......well....why not at this point.

Looking for a friend with a welder to make me up the antenna mount. Got a buddy with a powder coater who will do me some free work if the new mount directly to the frame does the job

Great idea building that filter...!!! Let's hope it does the job....can't hurt I'm sure, and may be a great help for a lot of us.
