OIC..... So then you don't really talk on the radio when you're running down the road...???

Edit: I just got done looking at the Hi-Q website. What kind of warranty does he provide? I looked all over and couldn't find anything.

Actually you can transmit with the antenna in that position. NVIS allows you to hit station close in the skip zone (approx. 150 miles). Its not perfect but doable.

I don't use warranties often so I didn't look. If the military is using it in place of standard issue its good enough for me. Eham gives it a good review.

The Marine Corp is using them with similar military spring mounts. My Army buddies will give me hell be it will still have the military look I was going for.
Take another look at the scorpion before you get the Hi-Q. I spent a lot of time researching this item and I am glad I did before I made my purchase.

Their small one Hi-Q-2.5 RT-S I can make an adapter for my Shakespeare 4244 mount that will mate to the 3/8x24 fitting. I might homebrew the controller.

Can the scorpion be adapted to my mount? or would I have to start from scratch?

I custom built my mount, but its just a solid stud type of mount that you use.

I got the shorty and its just one awsome antenna.
