The 2M equipment was a no brainer to buy new. Looking at HF equipment and because of the price, I will probably be looking used too.

buying from qth.com seems to be all right. i have bought several radios and accesorries through that site. you have to be a ham to sell on there from what i can see, i would stay away from ebay. i am a memeber of several ham groups on yahoo and on all of them someone has made a comment about being taken on ebay. I know for a fact that an icom v8000 was up for bid on ebay every 2 weeks for 8 weeks. each time by the guy that had bought before, the last guy said it didn't work right and was selling it as a parts rig.

i havn't bought through eham.net or qrz. com, but most of the time the same equipment is listed on all three sites. if you see something you like search the other sites by call sign and the equipment will usually pop up.

good luck on trying to decide what you want and how your going to install it.

Yea, I v heard about the one on EBAy from several different sources.
Makes me wonder why they still let him sell with all the neg feedback he s received.
FWIW, EHam had one page of ads the last time I checked.
QTH has something like 500

Either a Yaesu 7900 or Alinco DR 635.
My choice is based, IMHO, on looks and ease of mobile operation.
My question is which would be a beter choice?
Being fairly new to Ham radio, I would rather ask this from members with experience with the radios instead of installing one and being unsatisifed with it.
Thanks.
I have no direct experience with Alinco radios, but I have one of their DM-330MV power supplies I use to power an ICOM in the house and the power supply is top notch. A few people around here have Alinco DR-235 radios because we have a 220MHz repeater nearby and most multiband mobile radios neglect the 220MHz band.

Not sure about new ads, but when clicking on vhf/uhf specific, it only showed one page.
