Default Mounting CB

Where you guys mounting your CBs? Don't necessarily want to buy a Tuffy overhead but I've been looking around and there aren't a whole lot of options.

depends on which cb you're mounting, but I'd say you're wrong..there are all kinds of options. Under the dash, behind the glove box, on top of the console, above the mirror, on each side of the console - that enough options?

What kind of cb are you mounting? Might want to let us know and we can always make suggestions.

Also, use the search function - you'll find many cb mounting threads to look at.

I've got a couple of Cobra units from previous Jeeps. One is a smaller simple unit and the other a bit larger with a couple weather receviers included. I was wanting to mount the later (I'll get a model number tomorrow). I disagree about the availablility under the dash. There is no room under the dash on the drivers side without getting in the way of my legs hitting the peddles and the passenger side would also restict passenger leg space. There is no room between the center console and the seats either unfortunately. As I use the JK as a daily driver with 2 kids, behind the center console is probably out too. I may consider the windshield mount idea. Thanks for the link.

I respectfully completely disagree - I've seen units mounted in the dash under thet steering wheel (just had to cut out some of the plastic - tons of room back there), I've seen them mounted on either side of the console (not between the seat, just on the side) and there is plenty of room there. Unless you do a lot of channel switching, you could probably mount under the seat as well.

The 75WXST does really nice under the glove box.

Larger units I've seen mounted above the radio or above the mirror - and that would be my preferred location.

May end up trimming some of the plastic on the dash and mounting under like you suggested. I've always run CJs and never had all this plastic crap to deal with.........

you could always get a smaller one (midland1001, uniden 510) and put it in your console if you want it out of the way. i put mine above the rear view seeing as that was the most out of the way and yet still easily accessible. instead of having my mic wire hanging down infront of the mirror i ran the cord above the visor and to the "A" plliar.

My new Uniden is going on the dash above the radio stack.
I had previously ordered a 'top-plate' (~15.00, in case of ugly F.U.), drilled through and mounted a removable GPS holder. Worked great.

Now, I'll relocate it a bit to the side and put CB next to it.

THe top plate comes off easily (from the back first) and the write-ups in the forum are going to help LOADS with the wiring.
