So, I didn't see it anywhere. How big of a hole do I need to drill for the quick disconnect of the Cobra 75 mic.

I opted not to drill the hole, and just left the cable hanging from the bottom. When I'm not using it, I just tuck it back up and know one know's it's there. It's so easy to hook up anyways, I really don't see the point of drilling a hole into your dash that doesn't need to be there. However, finding somewhere to mount the mic in a 2011 is proving to be tricky...anyone have any ideas? for now, i've just been letting it sit in my center console cup holder, but that muffles the sound a bit.

First off I think the hole was a 5/8" it says in the instructions that came with the radio.

And on the mic, I went down to my local truck stop and got a mic hanger that attaches to the mic that looks like a coat hanger hook and an peel and stick hook that adhere's to the dash. works for me, and looks fine. When I'm not using it, I unscrew the mic and throw it in the console.

Howie,
Great write-up! I just finished my install and followed your procedure almost to the letter except for the antenna mount. See you on the trail.

Thx...

This is a fantastic thread. Just thread through the last 38 pages

I believe I will go with the Cobra 75 and have it mounted on the stock tire carrier.

Would 4' antenna be to long with the teraflex or that trail flag mounting bracket on the stock carrier?

Sure 4' would be just fine... in fact it may be too long if you garage your jeep. I used a spring and a quick disconnect on a 3' firestick antenna and the height is perfect for me. You can see examples of pics throughout this thread which might help you decide 3' or 4'.

EDIT:
I think this is a 4' on Toad's mounted on the tire carrier:

What an awesome site! Thank you to all that contributed to this, and to the original poster. Im a complete newbie to Jeeps and CBs, so this helps alot. Ive read before that ppl were not happy with the sound of this unit, once I got reading Ive seen some have hooked it up to thier stereo speakers instead of an external speaker. If you use external speakers do they make any that can mount in the sound bar, like 3" or 4" diameter? Just an idea. Does anyone know if this same setup (Radio, 3' Firestick (adjustable one) ant mount, and coax) is available as a kit? I seen online that Quadratec has a kit using the Uniden 510 radio, but I think I want this one now Is there a better location to mount the recepticle for the handset, looks like for me the dog would knock it around down on the pass lower panel. Fantastic job guys, thank you so much. Now just gotta start looking where to buy it all! Aslo, is there switchable power avaialble under the dash where the unit is mounted or do you have to run a wire through the firewall to the fusebox? I know if I put it right to the batt that Ill leave it on and drain my batt Thanks agian for all the tips and tricks for a new guy like me

You could mount it wherever the wire reaches... I've seen some people do it more by the lower dash assembly or the passenger side across from the e-brake. Once it's connected it's pretty sturdy, don't think the dog would knock it around.

Switchable power is available from the left cigg lighter. There are people that have connected to the fuse box using something called an 'add a fuse'. Something like this below, not sure it was this exact one... would have to search more.

I used these guides:

If the SWR on channel 40 is higher than that on channel 1, your antenna is too long.

If the SWR on channel 1 is higher than that on channel 40, your antenna is too short.
