Default RFI/EMI Mesh

Has anyone ever used RFI/EMI mesh to shield the wiring harness under the car to eliminate cb noise? I know the stuff isnt cheap but just wondering.

My experience. (about 4 yrs of RF tech work)
Wire Mesh is usually used between two metals. For example, a shielded building may require power or communications signals. this would run thru filters. the filters would be installed with round or square wire mesh gasket to shield RF from getting into the shielded side of the building, & mesh gaskets will be used when panels are installed to cover openings...... etc.
RF is a weird animal.. I wouldn't spend the time and money trying it.
typically to shield wires you need to completely cover them, say with a copper tape, completely wrapped..

Thank you sir for the clarification. I am by no means an expert in the field. I would classify myself as a man at the end of his rope haha.

So I just read more on this EMI/RFI mesh...
I would say it is alot like the copper tape that I have had experience with.
One thing is you need clean surfaces, and a clean ground to secure it to or it doesn't work really good. in the EMI world it can be hard and frustrating to find RF problems.

This EMI/RFI shielding method is different then what I was thinking but it would be hard to do unless it was designed in...

and I also am no expert just have work with it some...... and like all electronics... it magic..
RF is just a really weird animal and can be really hard at points.
that's why you read about all these guys bonding areas of there Jeeps.. it'll find something on one jeep and not others.

depending on your problems, I would first look at your grounds/bonding points to the frame, and your coax/connectors.

I'm in the bonding phase currently. That and I have built and rf filter to install on the fuel pump wires. I haven't had a chance to install due to being busy at work and not being completely sure on which wires are the fuel pump.

First of all, Vehicle RF is completely new to me also, the Jeep is the first vehicle I have installed my HAM HF radio into (the CB with no problems). I have been doing stuff slowly for about 13 months.. partly because I'm not very active. I have gotten engaged again and have bonded my Jeep with another 4 straps, including upgrading the OEM one but not removing it just by adding another in the same area. I will be testing my radio tomorrow again using 20M hopefully at 100W. I got it to 50W without RFI of course my goal is 100W and on multiple bands.

Have you tried these Ferrite beads, mix 31?

I actually used 4 of these to make my filter.
I'm also going to rerun my coax under the carpet instead of under the roll bar padding. Also ground the exhaust in two places yesterday. I need to pick up another strap from autozone for the hood and tailgate. They only had one of the flat ribbon style ground straps.

Here is my filter

Just wondering if you tried to snap a small one over the power lines first?

Most of my problems are coming in through the antenna not the power, I'm direct to the battery. The fuel pump is the main source of the noise. So I need to choke it out completely.

I'm pretty sure the fuel pump wires is what he was asking about, not your radio power leads. Did you just snap one over the lines to the fuel pump.

Also did you ever give Amidon a call? https://www.amidoncorp.com/

This is pretty much all these people do.....
