Here's my mount of an emperor 2010 and an icom 2 meter rig in my 2009 rubicon. Installed using a Tuffy console locking box. Sanitary and only problem is the mic holder location. But really a good clean install.

In the end, I decided it had to go on top of the HR. Now I have my radio "stack" within eyeshot and easy to control.

hey where did you end up putting the main unit for the Yaesu? Under the pass seat? I am thinking about putting my 2510 in the same place as you and the remote face for my Yaesu above it but am concerned about putting the radio under the seat on account of the possibility of water in forging activities...
I was thinking about trying to find a place behind the glove box or under the stock radio or something, opinions? Thanks! Great mounting job btw =)

Thanks. I chose to mount the unit under the passenger seat on a bracket I found there. It's a 2011 JK, I don't know if other years all have the bracket. Probably. The unit is raised off the floor, but not much. It might not be enough if you plan on getting a lot of water there.

oh now THAT is a cool idea! If I ever decide to replace the stock head unit I'll definitely be thinking about that!

exactly how is this mounted? I'd like to put mine back up top for the Winter but I usually relocate it down low since it interferes with the hardtop. thanks.

It's an Arizona Rocky Road CB Mount. Mounts on top of roll bar just in front of where the pins for the freedom panels go in. Have no trouble with latching my hard top or even the soft top when its on for summer.
