So where have you been mounting the CB's?
What is "Gear Keeper"? I do a google search on it and it comes up with scuba stuff.[/QUOTE]

I just happened to have some of that laying around. It might be a bit overkill but it's not hurting anything.
I think it will work for you on the footman loop. It looks like yours has actually a smaller depth from the right channel radio site.
The uniden 520 has dimensions of 4-1/2" W x 6-3/4" D x 1-3/8" H
the cobra 18 has dimensions of 7" W x 6.5" D x 1 7/8" H
I put a 90 degree connector from Radio Shack on the back of my radio for the coax so it wouldn't bend against the window. After it was mounted i realized that I probably didn't need it with the small PL-259 connector of the Firestick Firering coax.

You might have to drill a hole in the supplied mount to put the L brackets on? That's no big woop, I think you should be good.
FlameRedJK just used zip ties on his footman mount. You might try that to see how you'll like it and if it will fit. I did this myself before I got all my parts.
Good Luck,

Good Luck,
Cost all of maybe 2 bucks to put that together, already had a bazillion zip ties laying around, just needed to buy some Velcro strips.
I also used a right-angle adapter on the back end so it wouldn't touch the windshield, worked like a charm!
Might want to do a search for "Gear Keeper CB". I guess the company started out making retractables for scuba stuff and then branched out to other things. They have a hoop that goes over the button to hold the mic. From what I have read you can adjust the length you want it to hang at. You should be able to find one for less than $10. Here is some pictures.

Wanted to keep the radio out of sight of people just walking by, but still accessible to me when I am driving. The main radio unit will eventually go under my seat when I buy a longer power cord and mounting bracket.
Holy Cow, you got me beat by a mile. I just have the uniden 520 and no HAM licence yet. I found the pict with a search.
Yes, the Uniden 520 has a 2 holes in the back. One is for a PA and the other is for an external speaker (which is the one you would use) . You can get some 3.5mm (1/8") plug male to male wire and it will work. It is a mono connection from the CB radio so it would be best if you could find a mono to stereo jack. Otherwise it will only come out on the left or right side through the stereo.

I just installed my Midland 1001LWX over the weekend above my rear view mirror. I used 1/4" insulated clamps. Had to put some muscle into bending the clamps to get the bolt through, but overall I think it is a clean install. Just need to run power to the unit. I am storing the mic in the console while not in use. Drove around the area a little with no issues of movement and the mic cord didn't hinder my view too much, however I don't use my rear view mirror that much.
