So where have you been mounting the CB's?
I put a 90 degree connector from Radio Shack on the back of my radio for the coax so it wouldn't bend against the window. After it was mounted i realized that I probably didn't need it with the small PL-259 connector of the Firestick Firering coax.

I mounted mine above the mirror. I have access to a sheet metal and a break so I made my own bracket.
To insure that I had a secure mount needed to screw it to the metal of the windshield frame.

I wish I would've have cut the panel I little straighter. But you can't really see it now that the radio is installed.

This basically what I started with.

And this is what it looks like now that it's installed

I chose to mount my Cobra 75 in the center console for several reasons. I wanted to be able to get the connection box in case I wanted to run a 3.5mm speaker cable to my radio or to an external speaker later. From what I understand the unit senses the cable and shuts off the internal speaker when a cable in plugged in, so if I mounted it under the console I would not be able to have a coice of using the internal or external speaker. Anyway, I like how the install turned out, let me know what you think.

I met up with another JK'r local to me who uses the same CB... he mentioned something about piping the external audio through his stereo. I forgot to ask him how he was doing that... the only thing I could figure is he connected the external speaker jack to his Auxiliary input for his stereo... since I'm not sure I could be wrong. But I thought I'd pass that idea on... if you're looking for an external speaker set up.

I did this same set up on my 2012 Rubi with a Cobra 29LX and it worked out great this past weekend up on Drummond Island! Thanks for posting the part details!!
I just had to add some velcro to the back half of the radio to keep it against the windshield headliner (prevent the radio from tilting).
Some thoughts post-install:
You'll want the mike cord away from your rearview so attach the mike clip on the right hand side of the radio and just feed the cord over to that side and through a retainer of your chosing.
To do this, it's best to to mount the radio as far to the LEFT as possible..to the point of where it almost touches your driver-side sun visor. This way, you can mount the mike on the right-hand side while leaving enough room for the passenger-side visor to move freely.
Thanks again!

Good tip on actual mount location.
