Does Radio Shack still sell these? Now that they've sold out and become "the SHACK" they don't carry much but basic bling.

I have done it before in my truck. I cut the wire plug off of one speaker and "pealed" back the wire coating on the other and then soldered the wires accordingly .

I purchased mine at a truck stop. They had great prices. They had the small ones, big ones, loud horn ones, all kinds.

Yeah, it's official, "THE SHACK" is no more "Radio," and it's alot more "shit" than "SHACK!"

"Online Only" is pretty much the mantra for anything other than cell phone or Ipod bling with the new re-structuring.

I just got back from the Trucker's Inn, off I95. I go there for emergency calls ALOT (i'm a paramedic) and I know they have lots of CB stuff in stock on premesis, and probably one of the few that do. I bought a set of Uniden Bearcat5 watt external speakers. Hope I can do what I want with them.

The Uniden 512 only has one speaker output on the back. Any ideas how I can get 2 speakers from it other than splicing the wires together??

Is that the little 5-watt speaker? I got the 5-watt jobber from Uniden/Bearcat. it's only 5 watts, but my little Uniden 512 puts out 7 watts audio. I was wondering if your speaker sounded distorted at all when you crank up the volume??

Yeah, I figured that. That's why I want to mount a second one on the pax side so my wife, or whoever is riding shotgun can hear it as well as I can and I don't have to have the volume turned up to "blow my ear out" so they can hear it, too.! I know the 512pro has an internal speaker, but I keep trying to explain to her that she won't hear it well with the console closed, and possibly even with the lid open.

Thinking about using a mono Y adapter.

Default I mounted my speaker simple for me

As you can see from my pic from my I-Phone, I mounted a RCI 250 watt AM/SSB radio on my console lid with heavy duty 2 X 4 strips of velcro, and then using the same velcro mounted the Cobra external speaker to the top of the radio, and a Gear Keeper mic holder mounted to the handle in the celling for the removable top. Last but not least mounted a 1200 watt amplifier for the radio on the cupholder mount on the rear of the console. The radio makes a nice place to rest my elbow when driving. Also mounted a Wilson 5000 antenna on a Firestick adjustable mount at the top of the collision light mount running 18 feet of RG8X coax inside through the tailgate to the amp then to radio.
Don't know if this helps anyone but radio is my "other" hobby so have done a lot of radio installs over the years so sometimes is quite a challenge.
Anyway......just my .02 cents rounded off to a buck

Nice set up, with a nice radio, but in Baltimore City, the top would be sliced and that would be at the pawn shop before I even got from the jeep to the front door of my house.
