I finally had a chance to go to the dealer to have it fixed. And it worked!!!

 

well... it works while you're stopped and the parking brake applied.
same here, the svc rep was hesitant when i asked him to perforn the "fix", nevertheless IT WORKS!

 

I have an 08 JK sitting in park with an automatic transmission the dvd plays audio and video perfect, I try to drive and the video is gone however the audio still perfect. Can I over-ride this some how or do I need to get the lipstick, pogostick whatever thingy

 

I can confirm that this does work. Now i get the "Show Video" button when i insert a DVD. In fact i'm pretty impressed with the picture and sound quality.

 

I tried to apply my e brake a bit and put it in drive but as soon as you put the jeep in gear the video's is gone so there must be some kind of sensor in the tranny or shifter.

 

Yeah dude, it's more than just connected to the E brake. It's also connected to the speedomoter. Even if you were to somehow bypass the e-brake, as soon as you start to move it shuts down.

Currently the only way to bypass it is the LockPick (there is another one out there also but I can't remember the name of it).

Why do you think that they can charge what they do for them...?

 

yeh i broke down and got the lock pick. works good an unlocks all features but'm still muffed at chrysler and there attitude on this. so i wrote in to motor trend to see if they will look in to this issue. i'm hoping they have more leverage than us poor owners

I seem to be exp the same prob with my 08 Rubi. When I play a DVD all I get is sound, with the hand brake on and in netural. What do I need to do to fix this prob? What is a Lock Pick and a TSB?
