Need the specifics. What head unit do you have and do you have the Infinity system.

Base system or Infinity? How much are you looking to spend? DIY or would you have a shop install? What features do you want? How much are you wanting to or willing to replace? H/U, Amp, Speakers?

honestly i would replace the headunit if your gonna put in a sub and amp.. just my opinion.. but i redid my whole system with a pioneer touch screen, alpine type r 10" sub, alpine type r coaxials and components, and alpine pdx 5 channel amp.. rewired everything to amp.. sounds killer..

With a budget of 1200 bucks you could have a serious system. Are you looking to do it all yourself or pay someone to do the work? I also had a stock x radio and speakers. I changed them all out myself, everything but the tweets and I couldn't be happier with the result. You don't need to drop all your cash on a sub either. I have a single 10in L7 and it hits hard with the top on and off. Im sure you could do a quality install for under $800 and use that extra cash towards something else. I would definitely toss out that factory head unit, you will be happier with any after market because it will crank out more watts to your speakers plus the basic stock hu doesnt have amp outputs on it either, so if you want a sub and amp an aftermarket hu is a must.
