Default 550 for uconnect.....

Dealership wants to charge me 550 to put uconnect on an 11 rubicon, is it necessary or is there a way I can do it myself?

Better quote than I got from my dealership, I think the part is like $225. I've been told install isn't that bad but, its all in the dash. And after wards the programming needs to be redone so it recognizes the mic and new hardware.

I kicked and screamed to my dealer, as the window sticker said uconnect and bluetooth ready, Bitched a little and they installed no charge.

Seems way out of whack. I had the u-connect module installed shortly after I got my 2010 Sport last May and it only cost about $275 (installed) and that included the i-pod cable. The part cost about $225 and the installation was about $50. Maybe the additional cost is to upgrade your radio. In order to add u-connect you have to have the correct radio. If I were you I'd check other dealerships.

You don't need to pay the dealer! Have you heard of the "lockpik?" It unlocks all the functions of the MYGIG. This was the first thing I did on my JK back in 09. Very simple install and operation. Check out this link: http://www.coastaletech.com/MYGIG.htm

They also sell mics, cameras etc.. Installed both..

If you have a touch screen mygig gps you don't need lockpik. All you need is a mic kit. The non touch screen stereos require the expensive connect add on kit from the dealer and a star scan.

So buy this and there is no need for the Uconnnect to be installed?

If you already have the MYGIG system uConnect is built in.. The lockpik will open any function that dealer wants to charge for..

Do you have the MYGIG?

This is the correct info. All other radios besides the MyGig need to have a UConnect module added, where the MyGig Navi radios have it already built in, and you can go into the engineering menu of the MyGig to enable it, so there is no need to go to the dealer for a starscan. You don't need a lockpik like highoctane mentioned to be able to do this either.

The big question like others have already asked is which radio is installed in your JK?
