These two are not mutually exclusive... I have my solenoid pack mounted behind the grille at the bumper so I can plug in the remote and operate externally, but then I have an in-cab control that taps in directly to the solenoids, so I can use either. It's very nice and something to consider, IMO.

PS, the last of my mouser.com and waytek stuff arrived today, going to be cracking into this project this week -- three weekends to go before I take off on a three week trip.

OK, I can see how you did it. I haven't had to winch from inside my cab yet, though I'm sure it will happen some day. I’ve seen some pretty extreme trails where you need to winch yourself up and with bad weather and such a hardwired switch would be nicer than a wire control through an open window. I have a Warn Winch and I think they sell some kind of a wireless setup, but I bet it cost a lot more then some wires and switches.

Good luck with your project!

Based on some questions I added more pics and part numbers.

mmccurdy - Looks like you had a lot of components to hook up. I would be interested to see how you completed yours.

Thanks. Yeah, if you need more than 5 relays you'll need another box, but depending on what you are doing you don't necessarily need to use a relay for each switch. The unit supports 10 fuses.

Yeah I actually have a panel of six switches above the rearview mirror, and another new panel in the center console with five switches.

The micro relays can handle 35 amps each, so it may be possible to combine them for some things. I have a single relay driving my GPS, CB, and Ham radio, since I want the same switching behavior for them (in my case switched with the ignition or an override switch I wired in) and all together they draw less than 15 amps.

Since some of my accessories (compressor, lockers) came with fuses and relays that were neatly handled in their respective wiring harnesses, I also left some of that stuff as-is. My goal was to replace the non-waterproof rat's nest in that "before" pic.

My relays are all over the place right now and before it turns into a rats nest i will clean it up, at the same time put a safty switch for my winch (some one is going around and shorting out the connector point on winches here, i lucked out as i have mine disconected right now) on board air, CB, Lights x4, air lockers (in the future) and like you i was thinking an override for all of them and an all light switch so all my lights will come on at the same time not when my brights are on or dims as the law says here. i know i can do it all just need to start planning and doing it lol

Default Fantastic!

This is some great info! Thank you for taking the time to post all the information and Pictures! I have been looking all over for this information! I just got the daystar rocker switches and daystar replacement panel to mount switches. I ordered a NAPA 6 circuit block but it looks like I need to rethink and maybe put in a different fuse/relay panel. Thanks again, Mike
