Default Back up camera

I called my local Jeep dealer and asked if they could order the backup camera for a Jeep Cherokee and put it in my 4dr JK. They said they didn’t know why it wouldn’t work and ordered it. They just said its all wired up and works perfect and they are just waiting on the body shop to drill the hole in the bumper for the camera above the hitch. I’m posting in case anyone else wants one but isn’t sure how to go about it. The in dash screen will display the image. I am curious what the bill is going to be, they said just the camera and the wire kit for it was 195.00 but I have a feeling the install is going to be the killer!!

We want to to it too. Keep us posted on the install price. My guess is that it can't take more than an hour and a half to do.

Back up camera in a jeep would be about 1-1.5 hours it's way easier if you have an aftermarket HU with a reverse light output on the back. I do them on a regular basis. If its on a factory deck that might be a different story, unless the factory HU has a reverse out wire? Aftermarket cost is about $300 installed. But that's also in Canada

ID:	360578I got it back and it works great. The picture I took is with my phone and is not very good but i'm very happy with it. The price, it was 550.00. Thats everything, the price of the camera and installation. You can see my tire on the top of the image!

Do you think you could post a photo of the back of your jeep showing where they actually installed the camera? Thanks

I would like to have one installed as well, but until I can get a decent price, I'll hold it off for a while now. I'll try to look for a setup that will not go beyond $500 (if I'll find one, I'll post it here).

It's interesting that I come across disposed because the week ago I was talking to the dealership about the same exact issue. You just proved my point, thanks!

Do you by any chance know where they ran the wire ?

Running the wire, yes I went under it last night on the creeper to look how they did it. They actually did a factory looking job. They followed a set of other wires and zip tied it every so often until it got up front then it appears to go through the fire wall where some other wires go through. After I get showered and going for the day I will take a picture of the back where the camera is in the bumper just above the hitch. It’s so tiny it’s not noticeable and looks like it should have been there. If anyone is looking into it and their Jeep dealership says it can’t be done (I’ve gotten a few emails from people saying that’s what their dealer told them) tell the dealer they can talk to my dealership that put the camera in mine.

Thanks for the response. If you post some pictures that would be great, even some that show there the wire was ran would be appreciated.

Here is a picture of the camera in the bumper and another of what the image looks like inside. The image is much better in person, cameras dont like taking pictures of video.
