Not trying to hijack, but has anyone felt the need to add a spring to the antenna when using this mount?

I'm going to be installing mine this weekend, and a few guys from my local club suggested I might want one.

I down sized to a 3 foot antenna to be able to get into the garage without removing. A spring might be ok in the woods to prevent damage to the mounting setup. But a 3 foot is no taller than the top and works great....

I'm about to order this today, does anyone have this with a hard top and if so does it bang against the top much? also how fast is their shipping? i'm thinking of ordering that and the tailgate shock.

I don't usually have my top on anymore but When I did (and the few times I do now) there is no interference. the shipping was ver quick and I am very happy with the product!

Cheers.
just to clarify - and i've got an email out to cooltech on this as well - but is there really no soldering on any part of the installation? quotes from the cooltech website:

After routing the coax up to the dash, simply strip the coax and screw on the PL-259 end. No need to solder the shielding (that used to be a pain), but you will need to solder the center tip of the CB connector.

and,

Route the wire using the supplied instructions (super easy!) and simply screw on the supplied PL-259 connector. Solder the tip and you're done!
