Daytime Running Lights
Holy shit!! Day time running lights are a SAFETY feature. I get pissed off when I'm on the highway and meet a vehicle without it's lights on. That is the lazy part...knowing your headlights will make you more visible but being too stupid to turn them on. It's all about being seen by other vehicles. And don't get me started on farm equipment travelling at dusk without any running lights...nothing whatsoever against the farm folks...but come on, light yourselves up, everyone else has to.
Same with airbags. Same with TPMS. Same with lots of other so-called safety systems we get stuck with (in cars and elsewhere). Questionable (and exceptionally expensive) benefits - but big money makers for the manufacturers.
^^^^ Yes, I did fly off the handle a bit I suppose. Where the DRL really prove their value is up here on long highway drives with little or no traffic around for hours. Someone approaching is visible with their lights on way before you would see them otherwise, and I'm talking daytime of course. Without any lights, which still happens, they blend into the trees etc and are pretty much invisible until they are quite near you. Whatever, I still think the safety benefits outweigh the potential extra costs.
My LED conversion has killed the DRL's but JScan does not seem to allow full voltage on the lights (does that) to make the headlights run on low during DRL mode or enable fogs. Why I want this is because to place the headlights on manually during daylight dims the dash lights which makes things like the radio display hard to read.
Anyone got the headlights circuit diagram they can PDF and post? I may have pulled out too many relays from the TIPM.
