Just called the 1-800 number to file a complaint. As an attorney, I am definitely going to stay on top of this one.

I thought I read something about a flash. Is there nothing a dealer can do to fix the problem? And if so, what would I need to bring in? I did not see a TSB listed on Project JK for the ESP BAS light (or the driver and passenger air bag lights that come on every now and then)?

there is a TSB for the steering angle sensor (SAS) about that, sounds like that is likely your issue. check the thread about the TSBs and print that one out, bring it to your dealer and ask them to perform the TSB

Not sure if its the same issue you have been having but I was frequently getting both ESP/BAS lights on my dash I took it into my dealer and after a day or searching and trying to recover the codes they found the problem, this is their description:

C121A steering angle sensor not initilized & C2205 Steering angle sensor . Replaced Clockspring .

As I said I am not sure if this is the same situation but I figured I would post it and it may prove of use to someone reading the thread.

Default Having similar problem

Hey guys I'm a rookie to this forum thing, however I was having the same problem with the ESP activating on big sweeping U type turns. In fact it just started after a 2" BB and MT 33's. as I read all of your posts I'm wandering exactly what to tell my dealership?
I'm sure I will get the usual, you lifted the jeep and this voids the warranty. Any advice on how to handle the ignorant service tech who really doesn't know much about Jeeps. This is my 3rd jeep and I have been around this block before. Any advise is greatly appreciated! :O)

didn't see this thread but thought i would add my name to it. today after making a sharp aggressive turn to get out of traffics way the lights came on . bas/esp now the bas light don't go away even after re starting shutting off etc. got appointment with the dealer. its not that the light bothers me but it does, but even worse if brakes are applied without me hitting the brake that really makes me angry

I had the same problem the ESP/BAS light will come when I start the jeep. I took it to the dealer and they said that the CLKSPRG part # 8015001 had to be replaced. They order it and I’m taking it in today, and they are fixing it under warranty.

I've read in multiple places that people are having problems with their electronic stability program after putting lifts on their jeep. Is anyone having problems with it stock? I bought my jeep a couple months ago and have 4000 miles on it. My esp has come on 3 or 4 times while driving on a normal road. Once I was taking a slow gradual turn to the right (approx. 10mph), once I was driving in a straight line, and the most recent time I came around a right hand corner and needed to stop for traffic and a red light. My problem is that the stability program does not appear to be coming on to help with traction. All the times it has happened it's been dry roads and I didn't feel off balance. Instead, the light comes on when I hit my brakes which causes: the jeep to shake, make grinding noise, and prevent me from braking. The most recent time it happened the shaking put me into the oncoming lane of traffic and I almost rear ended the car in front of me.

I took it in to the dealer and they told me that they ran it on the computer and no errors came up. He said that the program is very sensitive and that Chrysler is aware of the problem and are going to find a way to fix it. I was told that there is nothing that they can do to solve the problem and to continue driving it. When I questioned what happens if it causes me to get into an accident, he said that he guesses I'll be sueing Chrysler.

I don't know what to do from this point forward. I'm nervous when I hit the brakes, because I don't know when it might prevent me from stopping. My friends bought a 4 door a couple weeks after I did and their light has never came on (with 3000 miles on it). My husband's Dodge Ram has the same stability program in it and we've never had a problem with his vehicle either. His boss said that they should replace our Jeep since they are unable to fix it. When we called Chrysler, they did not care to hear about the problem.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I would check the jeep.com site, and see if your jeep needs the recall done to it (they upgrade the software in the main chip). also see if you need the TSB (there is a link to the TSB's on the main project jk site.) hope that helps, and it would be good if you can find our your build date. but check jeep.com on the owners section and enter in the last 8 of your VIN and that should tell you if you need the recall done.

hope that helps, and good luck!
