Killing the key chime
Does anyone know whether a dealer can deprogram the chime when the key is left in the steering lock with the engine off?
I find it intensely irritating to have to remove the key every time I stop the engine and open a door (like if I'm working on the Jeep)

You can just pull it out slightly, still in the lock tumbler, but just not all the way in and it will stop. I do this a lot when I get gas. This way I don't have to put the keys in my pocket then take them back out. I know, so lazy.
Unhook your wire harness from the door to your Jeep, and it will shut up.... Don't forget to put it back in.
And take your key with you when you get gas
. If some punk steals it and you left your key in it, your insursurance doesn't have to pay for it. At least here in Texas....

Don't ask me how I know this, I wasn't bush guy if you were wondering. Just keep an eye out when you pump gas if you live in a big city.
I am not trying to freak you out or nothing, but just a warning... Some people are freaks, keep your eyes peeled.....
But anyways, if you go to the dealer let the rest of us know how it turns out...

You could always just put in the second accesory position (engine off but all electronics on). This is what I do if I'm working on it and want to listen to the radio but want to keep the driver door open.
Looking at the diagram, it looks like all you have to do to stop the chime and keep your doors hooked up is ground pin 7 at the door connector or jump the wires that go to pin 7 and 8 together. I haven't tried it on my jeep though because I dont have power doors or windows, so I just leave the door connector unhooked. I attached images of the wiring diagram and the door connector if you would like to see for yourself.
