LED tail lights look cool, but are horrible to drive behind. May just be me, but I find them too bright, and distracting.

I like that they are bright. Gets the attention of the people doing 50 things behind the wheel besides driving. Might help save you from being rear ended.

I'm currently working on a design to make my own LED tail lights. I developed a pattern of LEDs that will blend the tail light and brake light illumination. I just need to order the LEDs now and test the intensity of the light patterns. My plan is to create something that looks factory that will maintain or exceed the lumens of the OEM fixtures. I'll let you guys know how it goes once I'm finished.
