I received the black ones as a gift. The web site makes them look like they have a black lens over the lights but it is really just a black backing with a clear lens. This means that all the white leds show when they are off. They looked like big ugly black and white circuit boards. I resolved this problem by tinting the clear lenses with vinyl taillight tint. Now they are dark black but at least they have a cleaner look. I wish I would have gotten the smoked ones. I think the smoked ones + tint would still have a clean dark smoked look.

Here are some before and after pics.

Left one with vinyl tint, right one without tint.

LED's are so dirt cheap now..It used to be expensive to produce bright ones that can be used in a automotive market. But that is no longer true. So quite simply you getting ripped off soooo bad by buying these it's not even funny..
