Mobile tv tuner?
Anyone have a digital mobile tv tuner on their jeep? I'd like to catch the news on my way to work, kid watch cartoons and football while in the cat. I've got a jvc double din with RCA inputs and looking at hooking it up to that. I assume they need to be digital and don't want to buy something that won't work in the US. Whose had success? Brand? Price?
I guess you are talking about local over-the-air TV? Should be easy enough to capture the signal with an antenna and tune it in with some kind of tuner, but its not clear to me how the signal would find its way to your in-dash unit if that's what you're after.
A tiny stand-alone LCD TV in the back seat would work for the kids.
Just my opinion, but as far as the in-dash unit goes I'd be a happier camper if I knew the driver in the other rig wasn't watching TV

I have one, purchased from Crutchfield, Accelle DTV200. I receive local TV stations , about 14 in my area, but only when stationary. To receive signals while moving the stations must broadcast using ATSC-MH mobile signals. They are available in limited areas, not where I live. So on the go, is a no go. Before the change to all digital, I had a analog TV tuner in my Frontier and did just what you wanted, watched, mostly listened to news, sports anything local TV had,
while rolling down the road.
This is my second digital tuner, the first one only worked with the mobile signals and I got no reception here, Birmingham was the closest with the ATSC-MH mobile signals and had just a few channels, I tried mine there and was unimpressed as reception was very spotty.
My connection is through a Lock-Pic on my 730 Nav unit. the antenna is a magnet mount and I had the stereo shop run it between the hood and cowl and stuck it on the cowl in the middle.
For my area , I'm about 20 miles from stations, I can't count on getting a picture on all channels all the time and there can be some breakout, picture and sound.
This link will show the tuner I'm using and it says it will receive both formats. It also has a link that lists cities with the mobile signals:

ATSC t.v. signals only work in a stationary mode. Imagine strapping your over the air t.v. antenna at home to one of your kid's backs and letting them run all over the house during the football game... Same effect x 100 if you're in a moving vehicle with an ATSC tuner and antenna.
You could look into Marine or RV television antenna application that's meant to work while moving if you really want a dedicated piece of hardware in your Jeep for t.v.
But the better solution would be to get an app on your phone that can stream t.v. over the internet and then stream what you want to watch/hear to your compatible head unit via bluetooth or Apple/Android Carplay.
