I DETEST tapping into a factory wiring harness unless it's my absolute LAST resort.
What is the stock bulb wattage?

rear light option I took for now.

I just bolted them right into the rear bumper near the bottom. I drilled the hole and then filled the bumper with great stuff foam to stiffen it up enough to hold it. The wires also run through the bumper behind the lights.

side note: my entire rear bumper is filled with foam. After tearing 2 of them off. I foamed this 3rd one. Now the bumper can take real hits. I've dropped the Jeep on the rear corners a few times with no damage to the bumper.

I don't know, but it sure ain't 50 and they ain' t halogen. The stock number is 3157 by the way, so you'd want the ones compatibal with that part number.

Nice! Thanks. I'm a little weary of the LED bulb though. They don't tend to "throw" light well. But on the other hand, my Mag Lite has a 3Watt bulb and that's the brightest flashlight I've ever owned.

I see two problems putting a 50 watt bulb in place of the stock back up bulb. The wiring wasn't designed for nor is it strong enough to handle that load. Most people won't have a problem with it because they aren't in reverse long enough to melt it. So, that might not be a problem for them.

The other issue is it's effectivness. Led/ high intesity halogen or otherwise. You are restricted by the design of the light housing. It's magnitude of light refractors makes it break up the light from being thrown long distances to create a brighter glow for other drivers to see. It wasn't intended to be a back up light for vision of the driver but, for visablity of other drivers. It's inherent design is not condusive to adding to rear lighting. I just think that it could be a waste of money to go the bulb upgrade route when for very little money you can purchase another type of reverse light.

But, it all comes down to what the owner/driver is really looking for and determine what is best for them. If they want a rear driving or flood light then find one that works. You can mount them on or in the rear bumper.

was real easy. the grounds just attatched to existing bolts. what i did was put the little loop aorund the bolt and put another nut over it to secure it.

lights work great and are no lower than any other part of the car.

just wanna get my car washed.... dont know how that will work out

the lights were 75 bucks with everything included

easy instalation if ur good at electrical but if your dumb.. u shouldnt be driving
I'm curious to know how the lights on the Jeep work when you ran the wiring under your "car." If you want to get your car washed you can talk about that on another forum. That is a bad word on this forum, please refrain from using it.

Simple solution:

I've seen people who mounted these behind the stock bumper with the plastic cut away, and even a few mounted in aftermarket bumpers.
