mygig navigation problems
Just picked up a Sahara Unlimited with mygig. Mygig seems nice so far, well -- the audio/visual part that is. Unfortunately, on pickup, the navigation system within mygig was not working. I told dealer I would read the manual over the weekend, as the dealer had no idea how it works.
Anyway, the gps info shows no satellite information. All Maps seem to be there, but the gps never picks up satellites, thus -- can't find where I am..
Anyone have a similar situation? Running the hard-top now. Curious if the top may be blocking the signal somehow...
Any ideas?? Not feeling very confident the dealership will be able to fix this issue yet, as I doubt they have seen this issue before..

Seriously, I saw a thread when the dealer actually told the guy this.
Well, I finally got the GPS antenna replaced in my MyGIG unit...After 2 dealerships and multiple excuses ranging from "It just needs time to break in" to "It's a software thing", having them calibrate my unit (well, the touch screen part) and them thinking that would solve the issue. I changed to a different service center, and they ordered the new antenna, and bingo, my drive home I had a solid connection to satellites the enitre ride as ittle as 4 and as many as 7... Now to see if that continues...
My nav was off by a mile sometimes, other times it was accurate. It showed that I was seeing 1, 2 or 3 satellites at times. Finally, one morning, the radio wouldn't power up one morning, then the nav totally quit. When I pressed the NAV button, it'd not pass the white screen that said "activating the navigation.." It turns out that the hard drive in my radio had smoked, and it lost the nav database. So, a new radio is on order.
When I get the radio replaced, I'll find out if my navigation accuracy problem is related to the radio or antenna. I anticipate that the antenna is defective, which will be determined after the radio is swapped.

Can anyone verify where the GPS antenna is located? Is it an easy swap if I take out the MyGig? For a $40 component, it is not worth the hassle of dealing with the service department ...
