Default Seperates vs coaxial speakers in 2013 dash

I am trying to decide on speakers. Is the tweeter on the dash worth the extra cost and work? Give me your options. Thanks.

Yes, a new tweeter is definitely worth it. Coax speakers up front will leave you disappointed and wishing you would have installed components the first time

Seperates will sound better due to better imaging. You want to have the tweeters mounted in a high location. Seperating the mids and tweets gives a much richer and spacious sound.

Should I go with seperates on the rear sound bar also? How?

They are more of a fill speaker, so the coaxials will work fine here.

I have coaxials in the dash and components in the sound bar but moved the tweeters to the dash.
The crossovers have jumpers to adjust output levels somewhat to help balance the system, along with a 4 channel amp.
I think it sounds pretty good for a jeep, the coaxials do most of the work with dash tweeters to help "raise" the sound and then rear fill from the soundbar's mids works well especially without tweeters drawing you to the rear.
It took a while to get the amp gains and the crossover jumpers just right but worth the couple hours of tweaking.

I wouldn't suggest this arrangement since you are splitting a rear channel between back and front sound stage. Especially bad if you are running this off stock head unit and/or amp because the sound bar speakers in the factory system are highly attenuated and the frequencies are cut off. Even worse with the hard top off.

Spend a little time and rearrange your set up so both speakers from you component set are in the FRONT speaker locations and move those coax speakers to you sound bar. This will give you ideal sound and imaging and you will be happy you did it.

Thanks for all of the input. I am going to go with seperates up front and coaxials in the sound bar. I will post some pictures when I get done with the install.

Component speakers are typically better than coaxial speakers in vehicles for two main reasons:
  • The external crossover provides better signal separation than a typical capacitor/inductor combo you see on coax's
  • You can position the tweeter for better stereo imaging and overall sound quality
Now, your car most likely already has components, and I believe the tweeters are installed in the dash, so IMO you might as well stick with the components, as there's no point in having tweeters pointed at your knees, unless of course your knees have ears on them. It will be up to you whether you keep that location or place them elsewhere. Some people swear that that position knocks everything all out of whack, but a saying I consistently hear in car audio is "Everybody is an expert, but nobody has proof" so take that as you will.
