Default Little Sluice Challenge Motivational Video

I needed a little motivation for this Little Sluice Challenge build today so I watched the video of Mel Wade of Offroad Evolution running Little Sluice a couple of years ago. He did it in a 4-door on 42's, so believe me, I will be studying this video a lot before next summer:

I'm really looking forward to seeing conquer Little Sluice! Don't tell Steph how excited I am about your little project. :-)

WOW That was awsome!

Just thought of something, you should ask Mel what he thinks of his GY MT/R's. They (42's) seem to hook up pretty well. Maybe it's just my 37's or I have to air them down some more... had them at 10psi when we ran clawhammer.

Or, you'll see Little Sluice conquer me - either way it is going to be an awesome trip! Regarding Steph, I'm pretty sure she's got the Jeep bug just as much as you do.

Thanks J.R., I may do that, but I'm pretty confident that I'm going with the Krawlers, as they've stuck like glue to about every rock I've tried them on, and Little Sluice is all ROCK...plus, Jim Cox wants me to go with a 20" wheel on the 42's for better road manners, and the MTRs are a 17 in the 42.

I think I can run the Krawlers at about 6 to 8 psi as long as I have double beadlocks, which is the plan.

Here's another Little Sluice video. Hopefully, I don't break as much as this guy did (but he did dominate the sluice!):

Default Build Brainstorming...

I spent some time at the JCFab shop today with my Jeep on the lift and brainstorming with Jim about where we want this build to go. He's got some awesome ideas for this build, which are WAY over the top and creative! I'm getting very excited about his ideas and this build. I will share some of the concept-ideas we have decided on, but the actual implementation is still to be worked out. Rest assured, this will be a one-of-a-kind Jeep and incorporate Jim's 30+ years of experience!

Default Streeeetch!

One thing that Jim wants to do on this build is to really improve the approach and departure angles on the Jeep. In order to do this, we will be stretching the front axle forward about 4 inches and the rear axle will move back about six inches. This will vastly improve my ability to climb (and depart) from any obstacle. When you consider this stretch with the addition of the 42" tires, I will see my approach angle improve by 5.5 inches and my departure angle imrove by 7.5 inches!

Here it is pictured very roughly with a tape measure:
