Over 400 homes burned in Black Forest area NE of Colorado Springs with about 30% containment.

A note about wheelin' in the San Juan Mountains... MHJC (Mile Hi Jeep Club) has held it's annual All 4 Fun event in Silverton numerous times over the years. Every year during the event, some tourist Jeeper will drive off the trail. The club has been very fortunate that no serious injuries or deaths have occurred. An event visitor was killed a few years ago in Yankee Boy Basin outside Ouray on a major USFS road from a rock fall. The trails are not that tough, so you have a tendency to look at the scenery instead of paying attention. Once you get there, you will see what I mean.

Those areas are clear.

Most of the Royal Gorge Park was destroyed - 46 out of 48 structures destroyed and damage to the bridge.

There is now a wildfire about 20 miles west of me @ Rifle. It's in a close place I like to go wheeling. For anyone familiar; Rifle Falls, Rifle Park (OUTSTANDING place for rock climbing) & the fish hatchery are where the fire is at. As of 8am it was @ 300 acres.

A good site for info of wildfires and such (covers nationally, just select the state)
