Manual or Auto for offroading
I had a auto 83' bronco which was good but after that I drove a manual car and will probably never go back. Here are other benefits of the manual trans that have not been covered.
1.) Mantastic
2.) Looks cooler in the cabin
3.) Chicks dig manaul
4.) Less people asking to drive your Jeep because they can't drive stick

I have a manual and I feel like I have a lot more control of my vehicle on the trail. The gas mileage on the street is def a bonus also!! I normally getting 19-20, but never under 18, that's a lot better than some of things i've heard about the autos!

I gotta say a stick for the DD, from what I've heard from a lot is a bunch of bitching about power and gears. I've got 35's and have no problems, of course I accept that I'm driving a Jeep not a Ferrari. On the trails however I can see where auto would be convenient (roasted clutch::}. The gear ratio on mine is awesome, I don't think I could stall it if I wanted to, in 4Low.
