Snatch/Recovery strap - Two names for the same thing. It has a little stretch to it. And NO METAL anywhere - sewn loops for attachment.
Tow straps may look the same but don't stretch. And many have metal hooks on the ends. Don't use for recovery. Only for slow, careful towing.
Be careful about load ratings. A snatch strap needs to be rated several times the weight of the vehicle you're snatching.
Use with care and common sense. Utube has many videos of people breaking straps and sending chunks of metal flying at the spectators.
Be safe. Have fun. They are not mutually exclusive.

I think you are missing the true benifits of a statch strap. It is not the max strength but rather that the stretch provides dampening. When you need the recovering jeep to hit the gas to "jerk" loose the stuck jeep (common in mud pits) then the stress on both frames is extremely high with tow straps and chains because of the impact force to get the stuck jeep moving. The snatch strap stretchs and thus absorbs that impact... Protecting both rigs. I have seen tow straps and chains rip bumpers off rigs that snatch straps could have extracted safely.

I just bought 2 8 foot, 11K rated nylon recovery straps which are US army issue. For quick snap recovery from mud, I need to get a snatch to absorb some of the force and have some give to it.

8 foot is a bit short. I assume no metal hooks (dangerous; don't use!), but rather cloth loops. Use a rolled up magazine or small stick or such in the loops to connect them together for pulling someone out. Don't just tie the loops together: Very difficult to pull apart after a strong pull, and significantly weakens the straps.

There're ready-made Cinch Bones, which include a wire for tying to one of the strap loops:

A Dahl rod works pretty good too, and it's free if you have an extra broom handle laying around.
