Default What is the axe for?

I have mounted a shovel on my rear bumper and have used it a few times to get me out of a sticky mess. I was thinking to mount a second one so that when I am traveling with someone, they two can help. However, so many Jeeps I see with an axe. Does anyone use the axe? What have you used it for? Would you rather have a second shovel?

Thanks,
John

Fallen tree branches that stick out into the trail that are too big to move or too akward or elevated to go around/over

I have used mine a couple of times on tight trails where it was not practial to move logs or limbs to the side of the trail.

Zombie or Manbearpig threats. It's always nice to have when camping then to leave it in the garage at home.

I've never used the axe side, but have used it as a hammer to drive boards under tires of stuck vehicles.
