I love the two door safari cab. Only problem I see is i am guessing these will be very expensive to the point where I am guessing it would price me out, this is just based on what soft tops cost. WIth that siad you do great work and very impressive.

I'm also planning to include switched and unswitched power, plus support for the JK's interior lighting. The rear wiper and defroster won't be part of this harness because those will just plug into the factory hardtop plug in the JK - this harness will be for the extra features. Anything else I should design into the accessory harness?
maybe a 120 power outlet? It would be nice to have power access I'm the rear

Thanks, that's an interesting idea - I'll review the JK wiring schematics and see what would be involved in extending the factory 120v power to the rear.

Thank you.

It costs me about $600 in materials to make the complete set of fiberglass parts for a JK Safari Cab - resin, fiberglass and gelcoat. I pay retail prices for the materials, so a fiberglass shop that buys materials in volume would probably have less cost in materials for a complete kit than I do. But I'm a hobbyist in my home garage so I don't have the costs a company producing these would have - labor to do the fiberglass work, amortization costs for the production molds, shop overhead costs, marketing costs, etc.

Also not included in that cost is the windows; a basic set of windows for this kit would probably be $200-$250 at wholesale cost (5 windows - 2 side sliders and 3 fixed windows for the back). Then you'd have to add in the cost of any options - Alpine windows, rear wiper and defroster for the barn door, roof rack, sunroof(s), roll-up soft sides, etc.

I suppose some of the labor cost could be saved if the fiberglass parts were offered in a kit version, but I doubt many JK owners would want to assemble a kit.

Even with all that, I would think a JK Safari Cab could be brought to market for the same or less than any of these aftermarket JK hardtops:

$3699: Tactical Top - Jeep Aftermarket Hardtops
$3017: Top, JK 2-Dr Fastback
$3315: Top, Fastback Targa
$3800: Targa Fastback Jeep Hardtop by Lifted Off Road Products | Lifted Off Road Products

Of course that assumes some company is interested in bringing the Safari Cab to market. I have no interest in doing it, I just design and build these things as a hobby.

I've got some time before I have to decide on the colors for this first top, but I've been playing with some color ideas. I've posted this photo before of the top in white unpainted fiberglass from my initial test fitting:

Here are some edits of that photo in different colors. Some single colors:

And some combos:

I like them all actually, haven't decided which way to go. What do you guys think? Any other colors/combos I should try?

I'm a fan of black. I love that it breaks up color scheme. I've never been a fan of top same color as Jeep even Black I like the textured look over body color. My vote is black textured.

I'd do color matched since the flares match. I'd do black if the flares were black.
