Expedition Modded Jeeps - Let's see 'em!!

Confirming the AT rear storage rack. Awesome piece of gear without any drilling to mount or cutting of the roll bar cover. Very sturdy and height adjustable within a few inches up or down.

JK isn't quite expedition ready... but the trailer lets me get out further. Only mod so far are the wheels... (trailer was bought turn key). But it'll come along.

The trailer is a M101 CND2. Built for the Canadian military in 1992, based off of the US Army design m416 (almost identical to the m416, but they improved a couple areas). The previous owner added the tail gate and haven't decided if I'll keep it yet. I need to get a lot more use out of things before I start making major modifications (new lid, changing how the lid opens, tailgate, etc).
The tent is a Tepui Kukenam 3 man tent. It's okay - but the mattress royally blows. I have extra's in it, and the PO also used an additional mattress. If the weather is nice, it gets hot if you're in the sun. And I really dislike the fact that the doors while screened isn't really usable. There's no way to have the doors partially opened/screened while still having privacy (solid part of the doors only roll from the bottom to the top). Where as every ground tent I've ever used would zip from the top/side down, allowing you to have the screens partially open in the doors, but still having some privacy if you're sleeping. Also not having any coverage/shelter when entering/exiting the tent for when the weather sucks. But the tent setup/take down is very easy, and fairly fast (3-5 minutes if you're rushing).
But this is the tent that came with it... so I'll suck it up. Ideally I would love an Autohome hard shell tent (or something similar)... if the weather sucks they have covers that one could use so you can get the sheltered entry. But I don't have $3500 to spend on a tent at this time... so I'll use this for the next year or so and see how much use I get out of it... then re-assess things.

Thanks for the info Septu. I'll have to check out the Canadian version of the trailer. As for the tent, I was considering the Tepui Kukenam, but, I am very glad you elaborated on it!! I think I will find a different brand!! Now I know what to consider!!! I remember seeing the door on that tent in the video, but, it just didn't cross my mind that, that was the actual door, I was thinking some kind of storm cover! Yup, a zippered door would be better. Thanks again for the info on both!!

I've heard the M101 CND2 is a bitch to find. And usually much more expensive than the other 1/4 ton 4x6 trailers (M416, Bantam T3C, M100, etc). Those other ones are also very good starting platforms, and much more likely to be found locally, and a lot cheaper. But from what I've read and heard, the M101 is the best stock one out there. Also don't confuse it with the M101A2 3/4 ton.
Yeah as for the tent, if I hadn't used it, I wouldn't have even thought of that. It is the storm cover and it is zippered (down the sides), but it only rolls from the bottom to the top. The mattress is an easy fix. And I'm sure there's ways to put in something to still have some privacy, yet have the door open to get airflow. But there's also other tents on the market. Perhaps the others in that price range have these sorted out?
