Yes, the trails I took in Colorado are not particularly technical. Just be certain to check for when they open--Imogene Pass opened only a week or two before we went and that was the first week of August.

Also, a stock Jeep can do much tougher stuff. Moab has more technical trails, but I wouldn't worry about taking your rig on something like Fins and Things, which Wells rates difficult. White Rim Trail is more for expedition rigs--spend a couple days on it--it's little more than a dirt road with stunning scenery.

I agree. In fact, this is about the only JK-Forum thread I pay attention to any more. Going out and playing in a little playground is not my idea of a really fun time. It's why I was never thrilled with dirt bikes and ATVs and personal watercraft--you don't get to GO anywhere! And it's why building a huge rig with D60s and 40" tires and armor all around is not of much interest to me. Better to chase the wilderness and, for me, capture a little bit of it in a photograph or two.

That hits the nail on the head. The only other thing I would love to do possibly just as much is cross country motorcycling. My dad just got done covering all 48 states and is about to hit Alaska. The pictures that he brings back are amazing. But I think it's basically the same idea except he can't ride through 3ft of water haha

This is definitely a great thread. I have frequented the expedition forums more and more over the past couple years. I enjoy my rig and her 40s for local trail runs; helps save on equipment abuse.

I look forward to trails, where I don't see the same spot more than once. I'm in this for the adventure, sights and photo ops with friends.

I will downsize to a 37s or 38s next, but wouldn't go any smaller (for what I use my rig for). And I still get 12-13 and 14-15 mpg now.

Keep posting your adventures and expo rig ideas guys. Good stuff!!
