Though it wasn't in an expedition modded Jeep (my JKUR which I'm still piecing together), I went on an unconventional expedition with a friend to Inuvik which has just been featured on Expedition Portal that I'm sure a few of you folks can appreciate :

That was a fun read.
Sounds like a great trip.

I live near Seattle (GO SEAHWKS!) and have lots of family in AK.
I will make the trip and probably do some of your side trips, just not sure if I'll ride a bike or a jeep.
MY grandmother used to drive it a couple of times a year alone, I'm talking 60's to the late 80's.
Drove a Mustang and then a Buick 4 door.
She was a tough old bird.

We make it up to Edmonton every year for the Numb Bum 24 Ice Race. (GO ICEHOLES!)
Always have a blast up there!

Sold my 2dr Silver JK and picked up a 4 door 2009 JKU

The idea is to create a full on overlanding Jeep here in Australia to visit some of the icon 4WD spots like the Simpson Desert, Kimberlys Region, Cape Your, Vic highcountry

What it looked like when we purchased it, stock as.

Started the mods right away with some bits I had ready to go on.

Changed the chrome Jeep sign to Black and installed my Ebay grill mesh.

Did the Mopar fuel filler cap replacement and think it looks way better than the normal Jeep fuel filler, this should be std on all Jeeps. Install was easier than Jeep made it look in the instructions.

Fire extinguisher installed.

Happy with the way it all looks, now

Seat covers and Rugged Ridge pillar pod.

MSA canvas seat cover got a warn no soapy wash before going in and came up as clean as new out of my old JK.

I also ordered the Sharpwrax upgrade kit for going from a JK soft-top fitting to a JKU hardtop fitting, kit comprised of longer middle bars for the rack and the hardtop mounting kit, install took about 30mins all up and I was very impressed with how well the fitting went.

Also fitted my Rugged Ridge bonnet clamps.

AEV 2.5"lift was taken off and installed and the springs were changed out to new for a touring JK with also 4x4 parks kept in mind for when I wheel with the Brisbane Jeep Club. Also fitted the AEV front and rear bar and winch.

Fitted my Yakima Megawarrior back on the Sharpwrax rack and my Superpeg fox wing awning.

Next up was 33" Maxis Bighorns, certainly made the lift look better and gave it a nice stance.

Once that was all done we were ready for the first trip away to Fraser for a week.

Loaded up.

Sandy Cape

The JKU preformed as expected, it was much nicer to have more room, loaded up we managed 12.9 L per 100km from Brisbane to Inskip.

When we got back i cut down the original plastic guard of the front bumper and made it fit under the AEV one, it did a good job of tidying this area up and was cheaper the the AEV steel bash plate

Next put in the new Uniden UH8060NB UHF radio and moved the ariel of the front AEV hoop.

Another one of it loaded up before hitting Fraser Island

Cheers Mark

I loved my 2 door and the challenges it had going camping/overlanding with it, but when you want to take people out with you other than your partner then it became a problem which has now been fixed .

Carrizo Mountain near Ocotillo, CA. Views weren't much due to weather, but great trail. Part of several days I'm spending in Anza Borrego Desert. More to come later ...
