Expedition Modded Jeeps - Let's see 'em!!
We conducted our own little expo here in Oklahoma this past weekend--American Outback eXposition, or AOX. Saturday was instructional with classes on using topo maps, Leave No Trace/Tread Lightly, field repair of vehicles, safe winching practices, federal lands programs, rendering emergency assistance to first responders, and Dutch oven cooking. Oh, and there was a little football game on, so we provided time to catch that (sadly, OU lost to Texas), and a nearby town was having their annual Cheese and Wine Festival, so there was time built in to visit there. But we did get some instructional classes done on Saturday, a great potluck buffet that evening, then Sunday we drove from Roman Nose State Park to Seigling where we picked up the Oklahoma Adventure Trail and then drove part of that. Great time meeting folks we knew from the Internet but hadn't actually met. Here are a few pics; the rest are here:

It's Oklahoma, of course we had a tepee!

Instruction on LNT/Tread Lightly ...

Vehicle field repairs. Yes, that's yours truly ...

Safe winching practices ...

Dinner Saturday evening ...

Our campsite was a big field at Roman Nose. We had great support from the staff. It might have helped that the park manager and the lodge manager both own JKs and are active in our group.

Several different types of trailers were present for folks to drool over ...

The drive Sunday. Typical Oklahoma rural areas ...

I did a small section of the Oklahoma Adventure Trail today. From Rose to Cleveland at a little over 250 miles for 7 hours with 80% dirt/gravel roads. It's definitely a great way to explore in my own backyard. I decided to go old school this trip and rely solely on a paper map with a blue pen trace on my route. I got lost multiple times and turned around about once every hour, but I feels a little more special knowing that I don't have to rely on technology to have an adventure. I plan to follow Mark's path soon and head out to Western OK, a part of the state I know little about. Unfortunately, my iPhone photos will have to suffice for now. Thanks for introducing me to the OAT Mark D !

It's pretty much lake water and moonscape!
Yes, I've heard it used to have more rocks. I may have to go back soon to see if this year's flooding eroded it any further.
Oh no. That is a stock 2007 X. Stock SRA tires on stock wheels. The only mods I had were Teraflex quick disconnects, Shrockwork rock rails, and the Rugged Ridge gas cap door. Honest, my Jeep was just a few months old for that trip.
