Default Question To Mark Doiron

My question is on carrying Jerry cans . I recently bought 20l wavian can and getting another 20l i was wondering if you carry them full time , even when they are low or empty ? I read a lot of threads on internet and some they try to put fear into even carrying them at all . Some say need to be full and some say dangerous when very low and air pressures build up like a bomb from sun and so on . whats your experience with this issue your cans are on the jeep every time ive seen any pics . If anyone would know what works id imagine you would know from all your travels off road long distance in hot sun and cold temps . If any worries at all even ? obvious is owners risk but ..

Id like mine to be on my jeep full time however carrying 2 full fuel tanks all at times wouldnt be realistic & dosent sound all that safe either , and if they are very low or empty is that worse or voo doo wouldnt want any explosion and at some point they have to be empty if you use it . whats in yours ? when your dd and such? I like the looks too but can not see carrying 2 empty cans never used so there isnt any fuems in a can just for a look either lol you must carry them at low amounts at times no?
your opinion , experience is respected & would be appreciated on this
Thanks

i concidered the front drivers side mount style but that location seems a bit more risky

I run the fuel to the fill line. No overflows and it's been in 90+ degrees. My water I leave empty with a small amount of bleach in it to prevent mold. If I need to fill it in a stream the bleach will hopefully help make it more drinkable. I do fill it up when I go camping just as a backup. As for fuel I've heard the vapors in a 2/3 empty can is more dangerous due to the fact you need air to make gas explode. I fill my lawnmower up or fill my tank with it to empty it once a month to rotate it. I don't want stale gas in there for a friend in need or if I run out myself.

The explosive mix range is 1.3% to 6% gasoline vapor to air.
That's between 260 cc and 1,200 cc gasoline in a 20L can.
The fuller the can is -- the less air in it -- moves the can very far from explosion risk.

To be 100% on the safe side, ground it for a second to remove static electricity before using it. (Never seen anyone actually doing this...)
