There is a lot of truth in this article. Sometimes we think we NEED this or that before we head on an adventure that we miss the opportunity to do so. I'm guilty of this. Not anymore!

Cheers!

I've actually been preaching this on the forum for a while. There are way more mod threads versus trails and tales threads--probably by a factor of 25 or even 50 to 1. Considering a stock JK Sport can do amazing things, what's keeping people from getting out and enjoying their rigs? I understand mall crawlers, and harbor them no ill will. But there are a lot of folks who own nice rigs, but need to try harder to get out. My admonition: When laying on your death bed, you will not say to yourself, "Boy, I wish I had upgraded to flat fenders on my Jeep."

Been a productive couple days for me: The Racetrack video is now online. This includes a descent down Lippincott Mine Road, so there's a lot more GoPro Jeep footage and a lot less flower fru-fru (if you don't care for that stuff--I like to include it because it gives ambiance to the trip).

https://youtu.be/AqVZfPUGELU There should be two more videos soon: One for Eureka Dunes and the other for Titus Canyon.

How true Mark. My family and I have a new travel blog now, its all about traveling with a family member(s) with autism. My son who is 9 is on the autism spectrum and travelling with him takes some planning. But we are blogging about how to go about different things. Also, getting our adventures in our jeep, planes, trains etc out there for others to enjoy, and hopfully learn something from.

I only have the introduction live yet, but I am working on some articles now. Plus getting our travels up and running as well.

Hi Kojack,
Your travel blog sounds interesting.. Please share the link if you feel like it. I would love to read it when it's ready..
I also have an 11 year old autistic son and I can definitely relate.

Will do. We are working on our first round of content now. I have an information section and a travel documentation section. We are also going to be writing articles for autism parenting magazine and producing a tv program for the atusim channel on ROKU. Should be fun. Its not my day job but I wish it were. As we always say here, if you do not live it you never know! glad to meet other parents of children on the spectrum.

I will be giving silly little rants too. can't keep my personality out of it.

I will be traveling out west this April and would love to do stuff like this but would be concerned about getting lost with my wife and toddler with me in the Jeep, do you know of any type of a guide service or Trail guide that I can hire? Have did a bit of searching online and have yet to find anything for Death Valley.

I did find a guide service for Moab Utah so i am pretty excited about that.

I do not know of a guide service. But, if I were uncertain of my nav skills, I'd stick to the major roads (and dirt roads) during the busy season (winter months). West Side Rd and Titus Canyon would be fine. The Racetrack from Ubehebe Crater, too. Just avoid the southern exit over Lippincott Pass. Eureka Dunes was fairly easy nav, again from the turn-off near Ubehebe Crater. If traveling in a less busy season, recommend you have a buddy on all off-road travel. When I visited in June a few years back, we were alone in the park. Hardly ever saw anyone.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I definitely don't want to end up on the evening news, as the City Slickers who came out west and need to be rescued.

A few days before I arrive I may ask you for some more specifics about the main roads up there.

No problem. And if you PM me an e-mail address, I can send you a .gpx file with which you can view where I traveled on Google Earth. The file is also compatible with many GPS devices, so you could just follow my route. Here's what it looks like on GE (apologies if your browser can't properly display large images) ...
